Dr. Chong was born and raised in Hong Kong and spent his adolescent years in Victoria, BC. He holds a Bachelor's in Social Work (Child Welfare Specialization) from the University of Victoria, where he also studied Health Information Science. He earned a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia, a second Master's in Health Research (Mental Health) from Lancaster University, and a Doctorate from the University of Liverpool. His extensive background spans social work, clinical counselling, psychotherapy, and marriage & family therapy. His dedication to the pracademic philosophy is reflected in his role as Director of Counselling & Psychotherapy in private practice in Richmond, BC. He has also held various clinical positions within Vancouver Coastal Health and mentors graduate students in Counselling Psychology and Social Work as a Clinical Supervisor. His commitment to holistic, patient-centered care has significantly impacted healthcare training.
